Significant changes for 2026 DE/TT Tech Inspection
Please note that the 2026 PCA National minimum standards have not been provided by national yet. There may be minor changes to the forms and procedures. For the 2025 season the minimum standards were released Dec 10, 2024. We are expecting updated info in early December 2025 for the 2026 season.
Please note that there will be changes in the tech requirements for track events in 2026. In order that we are properly insured at our events, we need to be aligned with PCA National Minimum Standards for a HPDE event. Per PCA National Minimum Standards we will be using both the 120 day pre-tech form as well as the Final Tech form. The Final tech form will be required to be completed within 24 hours of the event.
Click here for both formsHere are the changes.
120 Day Pre-TechThis form will need to be completed at a facility that has a vehicle lift as the car will need to be in the air with all wheels off the ground and free for rotation for a portion of the inspection. Any of our approved tech stations will be able to handle this 120 day inspection. This will need to be current for each event but may be used at multiple events. Keep in mind that if you have a major mechanical failure at an event your 120 day inspection must be renewed prior to the next event.
After having the 120 day inspection completed send a scan of the form to the Pre-Reg Team
Final Tech FormThis form will be completed within 24 hours of the event, typically by the Tech Team at the track the Friday before the event or Saturday morning at the track. This requires that all cars will need to go through Tech at the event. Also note that the 24 hour form is 'lighter' than our current form so tech should move faster than it did in years past.
After completing the final tech inspection you may proceed to check-in with both completed forms. Check-in will retain the final tech form and may ask to see your 120 day form.
If you have a major mechanical failure at an event your 120 day inspection must be renewed prior to the next event.
Please let the DE/TT Tech inspection chair know if you have any questions regarding the 2026 requirements for PCA-SDR track events and we look forward to seeing you at all of our 2026 HPDE and TT events!
At-Track Procedure
Bring a copy of your 120 day tech form and blank final tech inspection form with you to the tech line Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. You need to fill out the driver information section, sign and date the bottom, and have the event date on the final tech form.
After completing the final tech inspection you may proceed to check-in with both completed forms. Check-in will retain the final tech form and may ask to see your 120 day form.
If you have a major mechanical failure at an event your 120 day inspection must be renewed prior to the next event.
Scheduling
The earliest date for a tech inspection to cover the first half of PCA-SDR's 2026 DE/TT events is 12/6/2025. The earliest date for a tech inspection to cover the second half of PCA-SDR's 2026 DE/TT dates is 8/22/2026.
Some local shops may be unable to accommodate you for a tech inspection very close to the event if it is not scheduled in advance. If you were wait-listed AND are confirmed for an event within 10 days of the event AND you are unable to schedule an inspection at a PCA-SDR Tech Inspection Station, a wheels up 120 day inspection with jacks can be performed at the track Friday by the SDR tech team for $TBD with notification. This will be limited to maximum 3 cars. PCA-SDR is not responsible for any damages that may occur due to the use of jacks. Please tech inspect at a facility with a lift if possible. E-mail the Pre-Reg Team if you need to use this option.
San Diego Region Tech Inspection Stations
These businesses typically charge a fee for inspection. The fee charged is decided by the business. A list is available here: Tech Inspection Stations. If you plan to have your inspection done at a shop not on this list, please contact us in advance. Your local PCA region safety chair may be able to assist you with locating a shop for the inspection. Porsche dealership inspections will be accepted.
Questions
Do I have to go to a shop for the tech inspection if I have a lift?
PCA National minimum standards require that inspections for our events either take place at a business with their own insurance or use the PCA Tech Session insurance. To get the Tech Session insurance the event needs to be approved by the region board and have the insurance obtained before the event. The 2026 DE/TT team is interested in having a region tech session of this kind in 2026. Please contact the Pre-Reg Team if you are interested in planning or hosting this kind of event.
E-mail the Pre-Reg Team if you have any questions.
